The second 12" borne from Michal Ho's acclaimed debut album Screw the Coffeemaker.

Zürich’s Michal Ho has had his busiest year yet in 2007, having produced his third solo EP, dubstep material with Jay Haze and Paul St. Hilaire as Sub Version (for Soul Jazz’s Box of Dub compilation), and two tracks with Samim on his album Flow (Get Physical). In the fall, Michal released his first full-length album Screw the Coffeemaker, met with overwhelmingly positive response from DJs, partygoers, and critics alike. When each track from Coffeemaker was of equally outstanding quality, it was tough for label head Jay Haze to select a second single, but after hearing the results of the new versions, it’s safe to say he made the right choice with the album’s title track. In fact, Jay has already tested these gems in his DJ sets from Berlin to Tokyo to London, with wild response from the crowds.

On the A-side, Stockholm’s Adam Beyer (Drumcode) brings his fierce rhythmic detail to the track, replacing the funky sway of the original with gridlocked percussive elements. Upon hearing this dark, driving reinterpretation, Michal felt nearly outdone. On the B-side, the UK’s Inxec (Contexterrior) returns after his recent Flip Beat EP to add his signature sexiness. Here, acoustic-sounding bass and vibraphones blend into stealthy, overpowering synth attacks, providing a peak-time workout that will fill the room with funk. The download version of this release includes both these remixes plus an edit from Michal himself, which he describes as “a very reduced affair... a tool version with more attention to mixability and rhythm, rather than the pomp of the original.”

This single marks the beginning of an even busier 2008 for Michal, with more collabs as Samim & Michal, an appearance on Jay Haze’s new full-length Love and Beyond, and more touring with his live PA in clubs around the world. Also on the way are his remixes for Alland Byallo (Nighlight) and Marcus Vector vs. Lust Addict (Toys For Boys).

•Two scorching reinterpretations from Adam Beyer and Inxec, plus a download-only bonus: a stripped-down version from Michal himself.
